چکیده
The complicated hybrid ac-dc network architecture creates new challenge for electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation of large-scale systems in terms accuracy and efficiency. By utilizing the variable time-stepping (VTS) method graphics processing unit (GPU) parallelism, this article proposes a four-level dynamic parallelism EMT grids. applying proposed hierarchical system decomposition VTS scheme, multiple time-step areas (TSAs) that contain subsystems with same size adaptation criteria can be computed different GPU blocks parallel. Taking advantage feature GPUs, is to fully exploit possibility parallelizing simulation, though which within each TSA detailed equipment models subsystem run also parallel via elaborate configurations. waveforms execution time speed-ups indicate extremely accelerate process while guaranteeing reasonable compared fixed based simulation.

A parallel explicit/implicit time stepping scheme on block-adaptive grids
We present a parallel explicit/implicit time integration scheme well suited for blockadaptive grids. The basic idea of the algorithm is that the time stepping scheme can differ in the blocks of the grid for a given time step: an explicit scheme is used in the blocks where the local stability requirement is not violated and an implicit scheme is used in the blocks where the explicit scheme would...
متن کاملA parallel nearly implicit time-stepping scheme†
Across-the-space parallelism still remains the most mature, convenient and natural way to parallelize large scale problems. One of the major problems here is that implicit time stepping is often difficult to parallelize due to the structure of the system. Approximate implicit schemes have been suggested to circumvent the problem [5]. These schemes have attractive stability properties and they a...

New discrete-event formulations of physics simulation models are emerging that can outperform models based on traditional time-stepped techniques. Detailed simulation of the Earth’s magnetosphere, for example, requires execution of sub-models that are at widely differing timescales. In contrast to time-stepped simulation which requires tightly coupled updates to entire system state at regular t...

متن کاملA Generalized Convolution Quadrature with Variable Time Stepping
In this paper, we will present a generalized convolution quadrature for solving linear parabolic and hyperbolic evolution equations. The original convolution quadrature method by Lubich works very nicely for equidistant time steps while the generalization of the method and its analysis to non-uniform time stepping is by no means obvious. We will introduce the generalized convolution quadrature ...
